Golfers club together for cancer charity

A NORTHAMPTONSHIRE-based charity helping children with cancer will receive more than £4,000, thanks to the generous support provided through David Williams Independent Financial Advisers and their clients.

The company’s 2015 Golf Day on September 9th raised money for NC TLC Trust, which provides practical help and support to children who have been diagnosed with cancer and to their families.

The event, held at the Northampton County Golf Club in Church Brampton, saw 48 golfers play in an 18-hole Stableford competition.

Enjoying perfect playing conditions, Andrew Nicholson was the top-scoring individual player with a Stableford score of 37.

Donations from guests and players were matched by David Williams IFA. And proceeds were boosted by a well-supported raffle and donations from financial product providers. In total, the day raised £4,200 for the Trust.

Nick Beal, director at David Williams IFA, says: ‘We had a wonderful time in the company of long-standing clients and friends, playing together to support such a deserving cause.’

Young children diagnosed with Leukaemia, tumours and other cancers often receive excellent medical help. But they and their families also need help and support away from hospital, both in practical matters and in coming to terms with what can sometimes be a very challenging diagnosis.

Janet Walker-Smith, the founder of NC TLC Trust, attended the day. She spoke to guests and explained how the charity would be using the donation to work with families, providing emotional support and counselling and also to help with a planned trip to Disneyland Paris for some of the children.
